What We’re Building

A member-funded social club—a place to drop by, have coffee, share a meal, hear music, and connect.

Why We're Building This

We want a place where it’s easy to bump into our friends at any time—and just as easy to make new ones.Sociologists call this a third place, a space that’s neither home nor work, but something else entirely. A place where you can show up as yourself, relax in public, encounter familiar faces, and make new friends. What defines a true third place? It's open and welcoming. You don’t need an invitation. It’s close by. It feels easy, familiar, and unpretentious. There’s a host. There are regulars. And more than anything, there's conversation that is playful, curious, and real. That’s what we’re building—an open, welcoming third place that feels like home.

Roots & Inspirations

We’ve created spaces like this before—intimate, fun, wild, weird and enthralling. Some lasted for years, others came and went more quickly. Many ended because of poor business models, burnout, or messy power structures. Those experiences taught us what works, what doesn’t, and what fundamentally matters. This time, we’re building with longevity and integrity in mind.

Physical Space

Out front, the space offers abundant seating and large windows that flood the interior with natural light. Inside, a café features a rotating selection of local, organic foods—meats, soups, and salads. The interior is warm and inviting, with wood surfaces, lush plants, and a high-fidelity sound system. Comfortable chairs, low tables, and built-in bookshelves line the walls. A stage and open floor area host dancing, yoga, and workshops. Out back, a spacious yard includes ample seating and a fire pit for gatherings.

Membership Model: How it works

The space is sustained by a community of 200 to 500 members. Monthly dues from members cover rent, staffing, programming, and operations—allowing us to remain independent from alcohol sales, high-priced events, or nonstop fundraising. In return, members gain access to the space, invitations to events, and a say in how the community grows. Some contribute by hosting, organizing, or offering their skills; others support simply by showing up and being present.Membership is by application to ensure alignment on shared values, and may be paused or revoked if necessary to protect the health of the community.

Ownership and Governance

From experience, we’ve learned the value of balancing agile leadership with shared ownership and collective decision-making. That’s why we’ve chosen a member-owned LLC—offering the best of both worlds.Members elect a board to guide the vision and uphold the mission, while a small leadership team manages day-to-day operations and programming. This structure provides both flexibility and accountability, enabling us to grow, adapt, and operate sustainably with transparency and trust. Over time, we aim to purchase the building and support the creation of other member-led social spaces around the world.Every member has a genuine stake in the project and a pathway to long-term stability.

Our Approach to Politics and Culture

We’ve seen how quickly political trends and ideological alignments can shift—and how often they create division rather than connection. In this space, we’ve chosen not to align with any specific political ideology or cultural stance that demands constant conformity.Instead, we’re rooting ourselves in something deeper and more durable: integrity, presence, and mutual respect. We believe that when people engage face to face, most treat each other with decency and care. That’s the foundation we want to build on.This is a space where respect is expected, not enforced through dogma. A space where people can disagree thoughtfully, learn from each other, and speak honestly—without fear of being shut down or shamed.

Founding Circle

We’re starting with a small group of people who already understand the value of this kind of space—friends, artists, organizers, and community builders. If this resonates with you, we’d love you in the founding circle. Help shape what comes next.[email protected]
